For many years, we ran a North Downs Challenge Walks each May, with nearly 200 walkers entering either the 11, 15 or 20 mile routes, all of which took you up and down the beautiful North Downs.
2016 was the last year we ran this, although we hoped to restart if we could find a new co-ordinator and team to run it.
It's time to do something similar, yet different, as a one-off for 2019. On Saturday 18th May 2019, we are going to run the Kemsing Church Hall Walk. This is neither a challenge walk, nor a sponsored walk. Rather, it is a chance to savour the beautiful Kent countryside in a relaxed atmosphere, and enjoy our church's hospitality. All proceeds will be put towards the cost of rebuilding our church hall.
There is a choice of 3 routes: 5, 11 or 15 miles. It is a self-led walk; you will be given clear route instructions to follow. The walk starts at Kemsing Church, and ends at St Edith's Hall for a sandwich and cake tea.
The entry fee is £12 for adults, and £6 for under-18s, which includes tea and biscuits at the start, water and soft drinks at the checkpoints, and the tea at the finish.
- The 5 mile route takes in Magpie Bottom, the southern end of Austin Lodge Valley, and Romney Street.
- The 11 mile route takes in Magpie Bottom, Dunstall Farm, Upper Austin Lodge, Romney Street and Woodlands.
- The 15 mile route takes in Magpie Bottom, the Darent Valley, Lullingstone, Upper Austin Lodge and Romney Street
To join the walk, lease contact Pauline Mallinson to ask for a form, either by email or from 125 Pilgrims Way, Kemsing, TN15 6TE. The closing date is 20th April, or when we reach our capacity of 250 walkers (whichever comes soonest). Book soon to avoid disappointment!
