Banns of Marriage Application Form

If you live in the church parish of Kemsing and Woodlands, and are having a church wedding somewhere else, we need to publish your banns of marriage here. It is a legal preliminary for a church wedding that Banns of Marriage have been published in the church where the wedding will take place, and also in the parish churches where the bride and groom each live.

(If you live here, and are having a wedding in Kemsing or Woodlands churches, you also need your Banns read here. However we will arrange that with you when we book the wedding, so this form is not relevant for you.)

Please complete this simple form, to make sure we have all the details we need. Please then send a cheque for £56.00 (2025 Statutory Fee for the Publication of the Banns and Banns Certificate), payable to "St Mary the Virgin PCC Kemsing", to

We will let you know when we will read your Banns. You do not need to be present for the Banns to be valid, but many couples like to hear them read and to be there as we pray for you in the service.

Reading your Banns
You need to have your Banns read in the parish church where each of you lives. If either of you lives in the church parish of St Mary's Kemsing, your Banns would need reading there. Similarly, if either of you lives in the church parish of St Mary's Woodlands, your Banns would need reading there. Most couples only need to have their Banns reading in one of our two churches. If the bride lived in Kemsing parish and the groom in Woodland parish, you would need to have your Banns published in both churches.
