This year, we were not able to do lots of the thing we would usually do to mark Harvest. In a normal year, people would bring fresh flowers to Kemsing for distribution to the sick and housebound the next day, and people would bring produce to Woodlands to decorate the church and (in some years) to auction off for charity.
However, on the first Sunday of each month, we collect food for the Loaves and Fishes Foodbank in Sevenoaks.
Before coronavirus, people would bring their contributions to the services on the first Sunday; in lockdown and since we've continued to take part, but with people taking their gifts to a drop-off point between midday on the Sunday and 5pm on the following Wednesday.
Because the first Sunday in October would normally be our Harvest Festival, we had a bumper donation of long-life food for the foodbank.
Well done, and thank you, to all who took part.
