Well done to all the walkers who completed last Saturday's North Downs Challenge Walks. It was another fantastic event, with nearly 200 walkers completing either the 11, 15 or 20 mile routes. It was helped by near-perfect weather - it was cool but dry. As ever, the sandwiches and cakes were greatly appreciated at the end.
It also might be the last North Downs Challenge Walks. The walks have run for 19 years, and raised over £27,000 for church improvement projects. However, Pauline (who's organised the walks for the past 5 years) has announced that this year would be her last, and some of her team are long due a break as well.
We hope to be able to restart the walks soon - maybe even next year. Future events may be very similar to the Walks we've enjoyed for the past 19 years, or may be a little different. However it all relies on us finding someone to co-ordinate the event safely and well, and also on finding a team who can work with them to make it a great success. This year's walkers were invited to leave an email address if they wanted to be contacted about any future long-distance walks we organise. If you want to add your email to that list, please let us know.
