Kemsing's Community Choir gave a wonderful concert in St Mary's Church yesterday evening. The Community Choir has performed 6 times so far, about once a year - each time strictly as a one-off!

We enjoyed songs from The Sound of Music in the first half, along with some succinct narrations to remind us all of the storyline that links the songs and sets the scene. After an interval (with wine, soft drinks and nibbles), we had some songs from The King and I, before rounding off with some songs to lead up to the Queen's 90th Birthday Celebrations next month. We heard a folk song from each of England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales; we sang Jerusalem, and ended with "Happy Birthday to You".

The choir thoroughly enjoyed singing, which is the reason they come together for these one-off performances. Equally, those who came to listen found themslves not only tapping their feet, but joining in with choruses and even actions. There was a retiring collection in aid of our church buildings' fund, hopefully to go towards a new church hall sooner rather than later.
