Scaffolding inside Kemsing Church

For the past two and a half weeks, we have had scaffolding inside Kemsing Church.

This is to allow us to have the inside walls of the nave (the body of the church, from where you come in up to the rood screen and vestry door) repainted. The south wall has been painted with a lime treatment; the north wall could be painted with emulsion paint as it is newer stonework.

Today, the scaffolding came down, and we could see the finished result. The walls are much brighter, and the building is a great deal lighter on the inside. The walls were last repainted 30-40 years ago, and it's amazing how much they have discoloured over time.

This was generously funded by the Friends of St Mary's who have been raising funds for the redecoration for a couple of years now. Next time you're nearby, pop in and have a look! (The church is open every day from about 9am onwards). We like it, and we hope you do too!
