St Edith Hall

Many areas of our churches' life were affected by our church hall fire; one of them was the loss of our parish office. Margaret, our church administrator, worked Monday mornings (10-12) and Thursdays all day (10-5). People would drop in to see her, as she did many of the vital pieces of administration to keep our two churches running smoothly.

All of that was lost. Not only was the office burnt, so was the computer, photocopier, many records, stationary, and many other things besides. (Any legally important records were stored offsite in a safe; nothing was lost that was an only copy).

When we build a new church hall, we'll have a new office in there, designed for what it will be used for. This could be two years away, so we have been looking for temporary facilities.

We are very grateful to the committee and members of the St Edith Club. There is a room at the back of the club that was being used only for storage. They've kindly cleared the space, and given us permission to use it as an office. It's an ideal size; it's location is near the church; it is a bright and pleasant working environment. Margaret is now set up there, with a desk, computer, printer, telephone, storage cupboards and filing cabinet. A new photocopier will go in next week.

Her office hours are as before. Entrance is via the Club entrance off the High Street. If you need to visit Margaret during her office hours, please press the buzzar by the door, and she will let you in. Outside of office hours, there is an answerphone and e-mail as before.
