Trinity School

Kemsing Church are one of the partner churches for the new Trinity School, opening in Sevenoaks this coming September.

Their website is full of information about the school. However for the benefit of those who were not aware of the plans, Trinity School was started under the government's free schools initiative. It will be a non academically selective secondary school, with a 4-form entry (so 840 pupils once full), and a clear Christian ethos. That ethos will permeate the whole school - touching every area of the curriculum, as well as shaping the "Trinity Way" - the values, atmosphere and attitudes that shapes how the school is run, and also how peoples and staff relate to one another and the wider world. It is a unique venture, because its Christian foundation is not being provided by a large external body, but by a network of local churches - all working together to see this school thrive.

Yesterday, the Sevenoaks Christian Educational Trust (SCET) had its first AGM. We heard how over 90 pupils have made firm acceptance of their offer of a place in September. To date, no fewer than 27 local churches have joined SCET as members. We heard from the Headmaster Designate, Matthew Tate, of his great enthusiasm for the school and how he sees the Christian ethos being translated into the day to day running of the school. We appointed 8 governors who will serve for between 1 and 4 years each. (They will be joined, in due course, by elected parent and staff governors.) We helped plan the school's dedication event on June 14th. We gave thanks to God for the way his good hand has been on the plans so far, and the school's future chaplain, Simon Duan, led us in prayer for God's continued blessing.

It was an encouraging meeting, and Kemsing are very proud to be a part of this new school.
