Now the Easter weekend for 2013 has drawn to a close, it's time to look back briefly on what was a very joyful time.
A few people started Easter Sunday with an informal celebration on Green Hill at sunrise. The 8 O'Clock Communion in Kemsing was very well attended. As every week, this was a said service without hymns - but the joy of Easter shone through all the same. Kemsing then had their main service of the day - the 10 O'Clock Communion service for all ages. The church was almost completely full, and the service was a happy celebration of the wonderful fact that Jesus is risen. We tried to taste some of the joy that Peter felt on the very first Easter morning at the fact that the resurrection was a real miracle of God. Woodlands then had their service at 11.30am - rounded off with an Easter egg hunt in the garden.
The weekend concluded with an Easter carol service - the second year we've done this. Our specially convened Festival Choir had rehearsed 5 items, and the congregation had 6 hymns to sung. The songs and the Bible readings took us through the Easter story, beginning in Genesis 3 with the problem, going through both Good Friday and Easter Day in both Testaments of the Bible.
If anyone was not able to join us and wishes to hear some of the sermons from the day, the recordings from 10am in Kemsing, and from the Carol Service, are both available on this website.
