This morning we had a lot of fun at our monthly all-age service. We were thinking about the fact that God is the maker of everything, so we had a go to see how we could do at making animals.
6 groups in the church were given an old newspaper, some tape and an elastic band, and given just 5 minutes to make an animal. 3 of these are pictured to the right - I'm sure you'll agree that they are very impressive. There wasn't space to display all 6 on this webpage, but the other 3 were just as good as these.
But they weren't perfect. They weren't in colour. And they weren't alive.
Which makes you think. How wonderful that God managed to make all the animals, with absolute perfection, and as living beings. As Genesis 1 says: God saw that it was good.
The pinnacle of God's creation is us - human beings. We were given the responsibility of caring for everything else he's made. We don't do that perfectly - indeed, often, it's far from it - but Jesus is also fully human, and he is sitting in heaven right now, ruling the world perfectly. One day he will return, and we will all get to meet the man who is truly and flawlessly in charge. Even more exciting, he wants his people to rule the world with him, so he invites us to know him now and join him in this task.
