Kemsing 2012 Well Dressing

For the second-year running, Kemsing has had its own well-dressing.

The craft of decorating wells with flowers and carefully produced mosaics originated in Derbyshire, where it is still an annual event in many villages. Kemsing has a well at the heart of the village, so a well-dressing seemed a fitting idea as part of the 2011 Kemsing Festival. Indeed, whilst we couldn't prove it, we suspected it may have been the first in Kent - and if not, certainly one of the first.

Well 2012 saw another well-dressing. It was unveiled as part of the 9.15 church service, as worshippers processed together to the well for the final hymn and the conclusion of the service. How about 2013, you may be wondering? Well - we'll all have to wait and see!

Hi great to see that Kemsing

Hi great to see that Kemsing is doing Derbyshire well dressing, for information Broomfield near Maidstone has also been doing it since 1990, in July. .  I would be interested if the well dressing is the same day as the procession and when this is done, time and date every year. Kind regards
